"I hope no one's there." the eleven year old brunette muttered as he peered out of his door to check. No one. The narrow hallway that led to his current destination seemed to be free of people. The young boy gave out an unconcious smile at the situation. Now all he had to do was make sure that he was quiet and all would be fine. Sure, it wasn't in Ken Amada's nature to disobey rules like a child would, despite the fact that he was, but tonight was a slight excemption. It wasn't everyday that they would air a special episode of Phoenix Ranger Featherman R, was it? Ken wasn't about to pass up the chance, he had planned it a few days ago, the moment he saw the commercial during one of their dinners at the dorms. Honestly, it was both an advantage and disadvantage that they had chosen this time of night to air their special. Ken didn't want people finding out that he was a fan of the show. He had already established a reputation among his dorm mates after all. Sure, it was late and all, but Ken liked to look at the good side of the situation.
And so Ken took a deeb breath, closing the door behind him and taking quiet steps through the hollow hallway, down the stairs and straight to the tv. He pursed his lips as he placed one hand over the 'power' button and another on the ' - volume' button. Another deep breath. He pressed both buttons and quickle pressed the second button harder. He was rather lucky that no one made it a habit to make the tv volume that loud. Ken didn't seem to hear any rustling either. He sighed in relief.
Finally in ease, he stationed himself on the chair in front of the television. His brown eyes remained on the tv, preparing himself for the show he'd been anticipating for days. Within a few minutes from turning on the tv, the show began. Okay, so he was feeling a bit like a dweeb for actually planning the entire thing. But people didn't know that. And what they didn't know wouldn't hurt them. Well, in this case, wouldn't hurt him.
"Yes!" Ken nearly jumped out of his seat, halfway through the show. This special was even better than what Ken had expected. But immediately after doing this, Ken covered his mouth. "O-Oops. I can't get carried away. If anyone wakes up..." he scratched his head, thinking about it.
I have to keep quiet.
Ken glanced over to see if anyone was there. "...!" He sulked and turned to look the other way. "Awww, crap." To Ken's own dismay, he had indeed woken someone up. And that someone was, pretty much, headed towards him. So much for his fool-proof plan.

"Damn..." the young man sighed and sat up. It had been hours since he had attempted to fall asleep, and it was to no avail. He yawned and looked around, his eyes had not adjusted to the darkness of his room yet. He blinked a few times and laid back down. Shinjiro hated his inability to sleep sometimes, and this was definitely one of those times. He shut his eyes again and after a few minutes, he gave up, although this time for a different reason. For a second there he felt as if he heard a faint cheer coming from downstairs. Groaning, he rolled out of bed and sluggishly walked towards the door to his room, ready to punch the one who interrupted his "sleep".
Rubbing his eyes, Shinjiro trudged down the hallway and down the stairs. He saw a glow coming from the main room. He heard voices he couldn't name and squinted to see what was going on. He noticed the familiar shape of a certain eleven-year old sitting down who happened looking around suspiciously, like he had done a bad thing. Surprisingly, Shinjiro hadn't been noticed yet, but that was about to change.
"Ken? What are you doing up?" he asked casually.

Ken squinted, biting his lower lip harder. Hoping that maybe it was just Fuuka or maybe Yukari who had gone down. Or just anyone who wasn't prone to get angry at him.
"Ken? What are you doing up?" the figure asked, now closer than awhile ago.
The rough voice was very familiar. Slowly, Ken tilted his head upward to see who it was. "Oh! Shinjiro-san! It's just you." the young boy exclaimed, looking a bit more relaxed, or at least, less tense. It was just Shinjiro. He looked as if he had just woken up, in Ken's point of view anyway. Or maybe Shinjiro without his beanie and messed up hair just really gave out that impression. In any case, Shinjiro didn't seem angry if you were to judge from his tone of voice. Shinjiro didn't seem like the type to really care too. Safe... for now. That's what Ken was thinking.
His mind back on the show he was watching, and his so-called repuations, Ken instinctively moved in front of the tv, covering the view, hands at back and lowering the volume so only he would be able to hear it. He wasn't planning on having even Shinjiro get any ideas, right or wrong. "I was just, um, watching. Ahaha... ha." .... Featherman R, but Shinji didn't need to know that. Besides, Shinjiro didn't look like he had gotten a good view of what Ken was watching. He seemed to be more focused on Ken, instead of the tv, anyway.

"Watching what...?" Shinjiro raised his eyebrow and tried to see what was so embarrassing that Ken was watching, but he was guarding that television quite fiercely. He rubbed his eyes again, not fully awake, but he was now more curious if anything, especially since Ken had conveniently lowered the volume of the tv. Nonetheless, whatever Ken was watching couldn't have been any more embarrassing than Shinjiro's little secret he himself had. He yawned again and stared at Ken, who looked like he was prepared to be up at this particular hour, watching his little show.
Shinjiro was ready to turn around and head back to his room when a little idea struck him.
"Hey Ken? Can I watch it with you? I can't sleep anyway, so I might as well be doing something." He smirked a bit, waiting for the younger kid's answer.

"Watching what...?" the older boy asked as he rubbed his eyes.
Shinji looked like he was curious as to what Ken was watching. That... was not good. Okay... So maybe Shinji wasn't the best person to have gone down. If anything, he was one of the worst choices. The guy seemed to still be trying to fully wake up, yawning and just staring at Ken. Surely enough, however, he was curious. Ken wasn't about to give an answer just like that. Not when it was about this particular thing. Awww, crap. He was going to have think of something now. Brilliant. "It's nothing, Shinjiro-san. A-absolutely nothing!"Ken's voice had a nervous tone, with a hint of 'you can go now' injected into it. He'd usher Shinji if he'd have to. Ken's foot tapped the carpet floor continuously, hands still behind him. Ken was about to interject a 'Why don't you go to sleep? It's getting late' comment, but just before he could, his senpai decided to be witty.
"Hey Ken? Can I watch it with you? I can't sleep anyway, so I might as well be doing something."
Needless to say, Ken urked upon hearing those words. That was the worst idea ever. Especially if you were Ken. He felt his eye twitch and his foot tap the floor even harder... to the point that he had hit the metal stand of the television. "O-Ow!!" the eleven year old irked, immediately leaning over to care for his now mildly injured foot in instinct. Talk about bad timing, now Shinjiro would be able to see what he was watching. "Awwghh... this just sucks.." the poor boy blurted out referring to both situations, heat rising up to his cheeks. He kept his eyes focused on the floor, preparing to hear an even more witty comment from his hammer-wielding senpai.

What Shinjiro saw wasn't exactly 'nothing', despite Ken's pleas; especially since he was being so defensive about it. However, what happened next was quite amusing for the older male. As he eyed Ken, who's body language obviously was trying too hard to act cool, he saw him hit his foot on the television's stand. Shinjiro winced but as he heard Ken whimper a small "O-Ow!!" followed by an "Awwghh... this just sucks..", he just couldn't help but try to hold back his laughter.
"A-are you okay?" he tried to act concerned, but instead ended up snickering. So much for sympathy for the kid. Still, he stepped forward to make sure he was okay, and to perhaps get a better glance at why Ken was so embarrassed.

Ken bit his lip trying to hold back on more "Ow"s and "Ouch"s.
"A-are you okay?"
Ken wasn't sure if Shinjiro was asking that out of concern or merely flat out mocking him. Sure, it was an utterly stupid move to do, but Ken wasn't expecting anyone to be coming down at all. "I'm fine." Ken groaned in reply, still rubbing his foot, watching Shinjiro inch closer to him... closer to the tv. More importantly, you better not look up at that tv. Ken wanted to say that, but he decided against it. Shinjiro might even end up getting all the more curious. Maybe Ken would be able to distract him enough until the show would end or until he'd be able to stand up and block the view again.
Using the top of the stand as support, Ken went back and stood up though using the stand to lean against. And once again, he made sure to cover what had to be covered from the tv. Shinjiro didn't seem to have seen what he was watching yet. Ken thought it would be best to take advantage of that. "More importantly, wouldn't it be better if you went back to bed, Shinjiro-san?" Ken interjected, "It is getting pretty late after all." It wasn't really much of an argument, since Shinjiro would be able to say the same thing about Ken, but maybe there was a small chance he wouldn't think of retorting the same comment back at him. Just maybe.

"If you...say so," Shinjiro merely replied as he watched the poor boy rub his foot, trying to soothe the pain. "Eh, it doesn't matter how late it is. I can't sleep anyway. Still, you should be in bed, don't you think?" He didn't mention anything about the television, but it still piqued his interest. Yawning again from his lack of sleep, he tried to sneak a peek at the television, but once again, Ken had cleverly blocked its view.

Shinjiro's second comment felt like a mental slap on the back. "I couldn't sleep as well! T-Talk about being in the same boat, huh Shinjiro-san?" Ken quickly retorted, waving his hands at the older boy. Ken observed Shinjiro's movements, eyeing him to be sure he couldn't see what was being shown on the television. He yawned, but he didn't seem to be heading back to his room anytime soon.
Craaap. I bet it's almost ending.
It had been awhile since Shinjiro went down. Around twenty minutes had passed by, if Ken were to guess. Dang it. It was possibly in it's ending credits by now. The young boy had a strong urge to make the volume a little louder, enough for him to hear, but then Shinjiro would be able to hear it too. So, well, that was out. It was during times like these that Ken wished he had the comfort of a tv in his room. That way he wouldn't be bothering anyone as well. Ken sighed. Maybe he'd find a replay of it somewhere. But then he'd also have to find a place to watch it. Maybe when no one was around. It was rare, but maybe. It was, also, rather sad how Ken felt like he couldn't allow anyone to find out about his little 'secret'. He felt as though it would diminish his 'mature' stature among his S.E.E.S. members. He shook hi head, removing the deep thoughts running through his mind. "Ah.. well... So, what now?" Seeing as how his senpai wasn't going anywhere, Ken might as well try to create some sort of conversation.

"Yes, what a coincidence," Shinji replied to Ken's comment, almost feeling bad for him. It was just too obvious he was hiding something and he was only digging his grave even deeper now. However, in a way he knew how Ken felt, trying to keep up some sort of reputation around the dorm, and yet...it was just too fun not to mess with him. He wouldn't miss this chance.
"Isn't your show almost over?" he replied smugly, probably further embarrassing Ken, if that was even possible. Shinjiro just stood there now, casually running a hand through his hair, refusing to move for anything.

"Yes, what a coincidence," it was clear and hinting at sarcasm. And so, Ken was, you could say, starting to take a defensive stance. It was now very obvious that Shinji knew Ken was hiding something. Well, trying to hide something. Ken subtly rolled his eyes. This was just great.
But, unfortunately for Ken., Shinji wasn't done just yet. He just had to further comment on unnecessary things.
"Isn't your show almost over?" Now this comment of his was just brimming with mockery. A small smirk was etched on the older man's face as he said this. causing Ken's eyes to narrow on him. And to think he had said it so casually. fingers combing his hair, posing around, looking 'cool'.
"W-What." Ken meant for it to come out as a question, though it sounded more like a statement. More over, he felt his cheeks burn. He had to know whether or now Shinji saw what Ken had been watching. Quickly, he shut off the t.v. before Shinjiro would have any further chance of 'investigating' or coming to any more conclusions. Tonight was not his night. Ken lowered his head, whipping his face, as if the redness that tainted his cheeks would go away. Sorry, Ken, but that was a natural blush, not make up. No matter what he'd do, it wasn't going to just wash away like that.
"I wasn't watching anything" Ken snapped, arms across chest. It was a lie and so obvious. Even Ken began to ask himself why he dared say that. Now he was just feeling stupid.

"I wasn't watching anything"...did Shinjiro hear him correctly? Now that was something he couldn't resist laughing at, especially with how red Ken's face had gotten. The poor kid was so embarrassed, and now he seemed to be irritated.
"Don't worry, sheesh. I didn't see anything," Shinjiro put his hands up, as if trying to gain Ken's trust, even though technically he was telling the truth. Disappointed at not seeing anything that would have revealed Ken's secret, Shinji slumped down into a chair and pretended to examine his fingernails. He waited for a reply; unsure whether Ken was sick of him yet. Again, he almost felt bad for Ken, but it was a sort of personal victory for Shinji: catching the so-called "mature kid" sneaking up late at night to watch some sort of television show and embarrassing him to death. It felt good, in a way.

Ken staggered at seeing the expressions exhibited by the older boy. He was enjoying this. Unless... Ken was reading too much into it, but non the less. Ken was seething on the inside.
"Don't worry, sheesh. I didn't see anything," he heard Shinjiro say, putting his hands up as he did.
He looked like he was telling the truth. He would've grinned or something if he was lying about it anyway. Ken relaxed a bit, his shoulders lowering once again. "..." He averted his eyes from Shinjiro, who looked pretty satisfied sitting on the spare chair opposite him, to the floor, pouting just a bit. "G-good." Ken shrugged mid-sentence, tensing up a bit. At least he didn't see it. Ken massaged his temple. Jeez. He was feeling a bit out of place, standing in front of such a tall guy. Ken sat on the chair he had been sitting on awhile ago, his mind wandering. Thinking more about it, however, Ken jerked up, turning a tad bit redder. "Ah! I wasn't looking at anything wrong, alright?" For all he knew, it would by typical of people to think a guy his age would be interested in... those kinds of things. Which Ken was absolutely not interested in. He didn't want anyone getting the wrong idea either. Honestly, he didn't know why people were interested in that sort of thing. He found it pretty absurd. "Anyway... I'm wasn't looking at anything wrong." he repeated for the second time, head lowering again.

Shinjiro smirked. Ken had repeated himself twice, both times mentioning that he "wasn't looking at anything wrong" and that only seemed to confirm that he had indeed, been looking at something wrong. Shinji however, still didn't have a clue at what Ken was actually getting at so he simply asked, "Are you sure?" And although curiosity killed the cat, Shinjiro was dying to know what Ken was up to at this hour.
The younger boy's face still was a deep shade of red, which only implied further that Ken was watching something he shouldn't have been watching, at least in Shinji's eyes anyway. He watched Ken as he sulked in his chair, rubbing his forehead. Shinjiro just sat in his own chair, a bored expression fixated on his face, waiting for an answer from the younger brunette, who was looking quite ashamed right now.

"Are you sure?"
Shinjiro asked this all the while carrying a gigantic smirk on his face. Highly implying that he didn't believe the young boy. Ken lightly scowled at this. "Yes, I'm sure, Shinjiro-san." What was there not to believe? Yeah, he had been up late to watch something, but it was far from being one of those things! Furthermore, Ken was not the type to look at things like that. Even Shinjiro should know that well enough. There were lots of other shows too... Thinking about it only made Ken all the more seethe the moment. The only way to make Shinji possibly believe him would be if Ken would actually tell him what he had been watching. But he wasn't going to do that. Well... There had to be some other way. Ken just couldn't think of what this 'other way' was yet! He further sulked on his chair, thinking still. His eyes were focused on Shinjiro, as if trying to read his thoughts. He was actually wishing he could, in fact. That way he'd have a proper come back or reply or something.
"I'm serious!" Ken suddenly said, scratching the corner of his face. "I doubt there are even channels like that."
The young brown-eyed boy didn't know what else to say in his defense and thus, finally resorted to simply saying that instead. Surely... There weren't channels like that going on, right? There was no DVD player either. Perhaps that would make the bored-looking Shinjiro Aragaki believe him. It was a pity he didn't know that dear Shinji wasn't even thinking of it that way.
